BPD Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Officer Peter P. Oginskis Killed in the Line of Duty 96 Years Ago Today


BPD Remembers: Today, the men and women of the Boston Police Department remember Officer Peter P. Oginskis who died in the line of duty 96 years ago on May 5, 1923.

Officer Peter Oginskis died as result of injuries sustained after he was struck by a motor vehicle while operating a department motorcycle near Jamaica Pond. Officer Oginskis had been with the department for two years at the time of his death.

Officer Oginskis is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson, New Hampshire. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial, Panel 34, West Line 6, as well as the Boston Police Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Massachusetts State House.


A Hero Sign has been placed in his honor at the intersection of Pond Street and the Arborway in Jamaica Plain.
