One in Custody After Traffic Stop Leads to the Recovery of a Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

ONE LESS GUN: At about 1:17 AM, on Sunday, May 5, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest while on patrol in the area of Hutchings Street and Humboldt Avenue in Roxbury. The officers had stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction when they learned that the operator did not possess a valid driver’s license. The officers then removed the operator and two passengers, one of whom was later identified as Davente Monteiro, 19, of Roxbury. As officers were speaking with Monteiro, he became nervous and appeared to be breathing heavily. When Monteiro became evasive while in conversation with the officers, they performed a pat frisk and immediately recovered a loaded 9mm Glock handgun (SEE PHOTO) with an obliterated serial number from inside the front, right waistband area of his pants. The suspect was then placed in custody without incident. The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and the operator was summonsed for his motor vehicle law infractions.
