BPD in the Community: Commissioner Gross Attends the South End Baseball League Opening Day Parade

BPD in the Community: Over the weekend, on Saturday May 4, 2019, Commissioner William Gross, Captain Steven Sweeney and officers assigned to District D-4, joined with players, coaches, volunteers and fans for the opening day parade and ceremonies for the South End Baseball League at Peters Park in the South End. Also in attendance were former Red Sox hitter and current analyst Sam Horn as well as Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher, the legendary, Luis “El Tiante” Tiant.

The South End Baseball League is a non-profit organization that provides a comprehensive youth baseball program to players ages 4-18 from the South End community as well as Roxbury, Dorchester and Chinatown. The program allows any child the chance to participate regardless of their ability or financial means while stressing the importance of teamwork, commitment and fair play.
