One in Custody and Firearm Recovered After Armed Robbery in Roxbury  


At about 12:22 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 86 Codman Park in Roxbury. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim, a Lyft driver, who stated he arrived at the above location for a pick up when an unknown black male entered the rear of his motor vehicle, pulled out a firearm, and pointed it at the victim before demanding the victim’s cell phone and cash. The victim stated he handed over his possessions to the suspect who fled the area on foot toward Washington Street. Additional units arrived at the scene and began to search for the suspect and eventually located two males in the area of Academy Road. Officers approached the males, one of whom matched the description of the suspect who was found to be in possession of a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber firearm loaded with five rounds of live ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody. Officers also located a cell phone belonging to the victim as well as his wallet, both of which were returned to the victim. The second male was identified and released from the scene. 

Officers arrested David Walker, 20-years-old, of Dorchester. Walker is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Violation with prior Violent/Drug Crime Conviction, and Armed Robbery.
