Suspect in Custody and Loaded Firearm Recovered After BPD Officers Respond to a Call for a Person with a Gun in Dorchester

 

ONE LESS GUN: At about 9:38 PM, on Monday, June 10, 2019, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Derek Lima, 27, of Randolph, on firearm-related charges after responding to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 31 Draper Street in Dorchester. On approach, officers observed a person matching the given description of the suspect standing with a group of males in front of 96 Draper Street. Officers performed a pat frisk of the suspect for weapons and immediately recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson MP handgun from the waistband area of the suspect’s pants. The suspect was then placed in custody without incident. While in the rear of the cruiser, the suspect attempted to kick an officer and spit in his face. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
