Officers Arrest One Male on Gun Charges in East Boston

At about 12:21 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2019, officers assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 191 Sumner Street., East Boston. 

Officers received a description of the suspect, later identified as Erick Soto, 29, of East Boston.  As officers approached Soto, he fled on foot. Officers observed a bright orange handled knife protruding from Soto’s pants pocket but he refused to stop.  

Once officers apprehended Soto, they attempted to perform a pat frisk for their safety but Soto continued to be uncooperative. After complying with officers, a spring-loaded knife was recovered from Soto’s pocket as well as a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 Revolver from Soto’s pant leg. 

Erick Soto will be arraigned in East Boston District Court on the following charges; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Discharging a Firearm 500 Ft of a Dwelling.
