Congratulations to BPD Recruit Class #58-18, Ready to Protect & Serve

Today, Wednesday, June 19, 2019, after receiving six months of training and education at the Boston Police Academy, 115 recruits were sworn in at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Those in attendance included Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Police Commissioner William G. Gross, BPD staff, family members and friends of those in the graduating class.

Said Police Commissioner William Gross: “I am very proud of your commitment to the communities of Boston that you have sworn to protect and serve. On a daily basis our officers are out on the street forging relationships and building trust with the community. We are dedicated to reducing and preventing crime and violence, addressing quality of life issues, and assisting those in need. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing you on the streets of Boston.”

Offered Mayor Marty Walsh: “With your training now complete, you’ve proven yourselves worthy of joining the Boston Police Department, the finest in the world. As you begin your service, I urge you to continue to listen, to learn, and to become leaders on the force and in your community. In our neighborhoods and on our streets, you will make Boston a safer place and a better place. Thank you for making this commitment, and congratulations to you and your families.”
