One Less Gun: 17-year-old Male Arrested and Firearm Recovered After Shots Fired in the South End


One Less Gun: At about 12:38 AM on Sunday, June 2, 2019, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 111 West Concord Street in the South End. While on a directed patrol in the area of the aforementioned location, officers observed two males running on Al Street away from West Newton Street. Simultaneously, officers were notified by BPD Operations of shots fired in the area of 100 West Newton Street. Due to the shots fired call and the proximity of the two males running away from the area, officers attempted to speak with the males. At this time, the males began to run away from officers, who immediately pursued them on foot. During the foot pursuit, officers lost sight of one of the males but observed the second male suspect crouch down between two vehicles in the area of 111 West Concord Street. Officers caught up to the suspect and subsequently recovered a Custom Trace firearm loaded with two rounds of live ammunition, from inside of the suspect’s sweatshirt pocket.  Additionally, detectives on scene located ballistic evidence in the area of 100 West Newton Street as well as a motor vehicle with ballistic damage as well. 

Officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male of Boston. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm, within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Removal of a Firearm Serial Number, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
