At about 5:30 PM on Friday, July 12, 2019, members of the District C-6 (South Boston) Drug Control Unit arrested one male and recovered a firearm, drugs and cash in the area of 64 Arlington Street in Boston. As part of an ongoing and active investigation, officers received information which led them to the aforementioned location. Officers were notified that an Asian male had rented a room at the hotel where he was selling drugs while in possession of a firearm. Officers responded to the area of 64 Arlington Street where they conducted surveillance of the male suspect. At approximately 5:30 PM, officers observed the male exit the hotel. Officers approached the male, and subsequently located a black semi-automatic firearm with the serial number, make and model defaced, containing eleven rounds of live ammunition, inside of a fanny pack the suspect was wearing. Officers also located an undisclosed amount of US Currency and 4 grams of methamphetamine from the suspect’s person.
Officers then responded to the suspect’s hotel room upon notifying the hotel staff in an effort to remove the remaining occupants from the room. Officers recovered over fifty grams of methamphetamine, over four hundred Xanax pills, twenty-six Gabapentin pills, twenty Adderall pills and a small bag containing heroin. A second male, who attempted to enter the room while officers were inside, was identified and received a summons.
Officers arrested Maximo Shimada, 21-years-old, of Boston. Shimada is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class E Drugs.
