Two Arrested and Firearm Recovered in the South End

ONE LESS GUN: At about 11:05 PM, on Friday, July 19, 2019, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) made two onsite arrests and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 14 E. Brookline Street in the South End. While on directed patrol in the area of 700 Harrison Avenue, officers observed a male, herein described as Suspect #1, standing by the park benches. Officers, who were on foot and walking towards the park, observed Suspect #1 quickly pin his right hand to his waistband and walk hurriedly away from them. Suspect #1 walked toward a second male, pulled an unknown item from his waistband, handed it to the second male and, then, immediately began running away from officers toward the area of 14 E. Brookline Avenue. Officers quickly gave chase and soon apprehended Suspect #1. Meantime, Suspect #2, who remained on the park bench, was found to be in possession of a gun, described as a Llama 9mm firearm, loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition. 

Officers arrested Suspect #1, Jerry Carrasquillo Jr., 35-years-old, of Dorchester and Suspect #2, Louis Lasanta, 50-years-old, of Boston. Both are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number. Carrasquillo faces an additional charge of Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent/Drug Crimes.
