At about 6:24 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site firearm arrest of Jefferson Baez, 21, of Boston, and a 17-year old juvenile male from Roxbury.
Due to recent drug and gun activity, officers performed a Registry of Motor Vehicle inquiry on an occupied motor vehicle that was parked in the lot of Academy Homes. It was revealed that the license plate was registered to another motor vehicle. Officers exited their cruiser and made contact with the driver, Jefferson Baez, to further inquire about the registration status of the vehicle. Baez, refused to speak with officers and rolled up the driver’s side window. For their safety, officers ordered Baez out of the motor vehicle due to do his actions, and the possibility of him being armed.
After further investigation, officers recovered two firearms; a loaded SCCY CPX-1 9MM with one round in the chamber and 8 rounds in the magazine, and a loaded Smith & Wesson SW40VE, with one round in the chamber and 10 rounds in the magazine.
Jefferson Baez was arrested and charged with the following; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The 17-year-old juvenile male was arrested and charged with the following; Delinquent to wit Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Delinquent to wit Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Delinquent to wit Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Delinquent to wit Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device.
