Officers Assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force Arrest Juvenile Carrying a Loaded Firearm

At about 9:36 PM, on Monday, July 29, 2019, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 455 Quincy Street, Dorchester.

Officers were patrolling on Columbia Road near Ceylon Street, when they observed a group of males walking toward Ceylon Park.  One male in particular was tightly clutching a fanny pack that was secured across his chest while continuously looking back, which is consistent with an armed gunman.

As officers exited their motor vehicle and approached the males on foot, they observed the suspect continue to clutch the fanny pack on his left side. At the sight of officers, the male suspect fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. Officers observed a firearm inside the fanny pack as it was already unzipped.  Recovered was a loaded Smith and Wesson 38SW Special Revolver CTG with 6 rounds of ammunition.

The 17-year-old, juvenile male, of Dorchester, was charged with Delinquent to Wit Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, and Delinquent to Wit Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card. He will be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court.
