Suspect in Custody After Loaded Firearm Recovered in Roxbury

ONE LESS GUN: At about 11:03 PM on Wednesday July 3, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Michael Beasley, 29, of Norwood, on firearm related charges after responding to a call for a recovered handgun in the area of 2917 Washington Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers were informed by a private security guard working at the New Academy Estates that he had asked the suspect to leave the property after a brief confrontation. As the suspect was walking away, the guard observed the suspect drop an unknown object which was later determined to be a loaded .38 caliber Titan Tiger revolver.

Additional responding units soon located the suspect standing with a group nearby. Upon seeing the approaching officers, the suspect took off running, jumping over several backyard fences before finally being placed in custody in the area of 290 Highland Street. As the officers were walking the suspect to a cruiser for transport, they recovered a small plastic bag containing crack cocaine that the suspect had attempted to discard on the ground.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of Class B Drugs.
