Suspect Facing Gun-Related Charges after Speeding by BPD Officers in Roxbury: At about 2:50AM, on Saturday, July 6, 2019, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a black motor vehicle travelling at high rate of speed on Stanwood Street heading in the direction of Blue Hill Ave. In light of the vehicle’s high rate of speed, officers activated their lights and sirens in an effort to conduct a motor vehicle stop. Initially, the vehicle appeared to stop. However, as officers began to exit their cruiser, the operator of the vehicle drove off. In short time, the vehicle stopped a second time in the area of Warren and Quincy Streets. This time, the operator of the vehicle remained on scene. Upon engaging the operator, officers immediately instructed him to remove his keys from the ignition before exiting the vehicle. Once outside the car, the operator of the vehicle, 26-year-old Donald Brown of Boston, was placed under arrest for failing to stop for police officers. A pat frisk of the vehicle for weapons enabled officers to discover and recover a firearm determined to be a Walther .380 Smith & Wesson handgun. When asked to produce a license to carry a firearm, the suspect was unable to.

Additionally, officers charged the suspect with the Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and the Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Mr. Brown is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Monday, July 8, 2019.
