One Arrested and Two Loaded Firearms Recovered During Traffic Stop in Dorchester

ONE LESS GUN: At about 4:01 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered two loaded firearms in the area of 158 Harvard Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of the aforementioned location, officers observed a motor vehicle operating with an inoperable brake light. Officers activated their emergency equipment (lights and sirens) to conduct a traffic stop. While approaching the motor vehicle, officers observed the windows to have an excessive, illegal tint. Officers spoke to the operator, who was known to them from prior encounters. Upon notifying the operator of the motor vehicle infractions, officers located a Taurus PT 738 .380 firearm loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition and a Titan .25 caliber firearm loaded with one round of live ammunition from inside of the center console of the vehicle.

Officers arrested Thomas Searcy, 23-years-old, of Boston. Searcy is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Searcy was also issued a MA Uniform Citation for the defective brake light and the excessive tint.
