Two Suspects in Custody and Two Loaded Firearms Recovered Following Shots Fired Incident in Dorchester

At about 4:15 PM on Monday July 8, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 14 Harvard Street in Dorchester which resulted in ballistic damage to an unoccupied motor vehicle. During that incident, two suspects, later identified as Teshawn Hector-Coleman, 25, of Stoughton and Daiquan Miller, 20, of Hyde Park, were observed fleeing the area on motorized scooters.

At about 6:20 PM, officers observed two individuals matching the suspect description operating scooters in a rear courtyard area adjacent to 30 Stratton Street in Dorchester. Additional responding units set a perimeter and were able to stop both suspects, despite their efforts to flee. Officers then recovered a loaded 9mm SCCY handgun located inside a storage pouch which was secured against the chest of Teshawn Hector-Coleman. Officers also then recovered a loaded .25 caliber Raven Model MP25 handgun from an under-seat storage compartment of the scooter which was being operated by Daiquan Miller. Both suspects were then placed in custody on scene without incident.

Officers continued their investigation and learned that the scooter which was being operated by Hector-Coleman had recently been reported stolen. Officers later located the owner of that scooter who stated that the two suspects had robbed her at gunpoint at about 5:50 PM in the area of Hunts Playground in Almont Park, taking her scooter and an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim informed officers that Hector-Coleman had displayed a firearm while Miller had shown a knife during the robbery. The victim, an adult female, was not injured during the incident and was able to positively identify both suspects.

The two suspects will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on numerous charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Armed Carjacking and Armed Robbery.
