Officers Arrest Male for Attempted Larceny of a Motor Vehicle in Roxbury

 

At about 7:56 AM on Thursday, August 1, 2019, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in the area of 112 Southampton Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers were met by a witness who stated at about 7:28 AM, she was notified of a fight outside of the shelter. The witness stated she observed approximately five males assaulting an adult male victim. The witness stated she observed the male being struck repeatedly by a metal object. The witness stated she ran toward the group, who immediately dispersed, to tend to the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Boston EMS. Officers searched the area for the suspects to no avail.  

Additional units arrived at the hospital where the victim was being treated. The victim stated he was operating his motor vehicle on Atkinson Street when an unknown male yelled out to him. The victim stated he rolled his window down when the unknown male approached him and struck him in the face with an open fist. The victim stated he exited his vehicle and engaged the unknown male suspect in a physical fight. The victim stated about five individuals joined the fight and began to assault the victim. The victim stated that during the altercation, he was struck multiple times with a metal pipe. The victim further stated his watch, glasses and cell phone were stolen.  

Officers received additional information that an individual in the area had entered the victim’s motor vehicle and unsuccessfully attempted to flee the scene. Officers were able to locate and apprehend the male in the area of Southampton Street and Atkinson Street. 

Officers arrested Torie Jenkins, 45-years-old, of Boston. Jenkins is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and Attempted Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. Additionally, Jenkins was discovered to have four active warrants: Roxbury District Court warrant for Distribution of Class A Drugs, Roxbury District Court for Distribution of Class B Drugs, Possession of Class B Drugs, Boston Municipal Court for Assault and Battery on a Public Employee, Disturbing a Correctional Institution, and Disorderly Conduct, and Roxbury District Court for Distribution of Class A.
