Officers Recover Loaded Firearm from Suicidal Male Downtown  


At about 9:50 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) were notified by a law enforcement partner of an emotionally disturbed person who may be in possession of a firearm in the area of Boylston Street and Charles Street South in Boston. While in the area, officers received additional information that the individual had expressed suicidal ideations which he would act on if approached by law enforcement.

Additional officers from neighboring District D-4 (South End) arrived on scene as numerous resources were dedicated in an effort to locate the male in a timely manner. Officers continued their search and eventually located the male’s vehicle parked on Charles Street next to the Public Gardens. Officers were able to locate the male inside of the park at Beacon Street and Charles Street. The male was secured and officers were directed again to the male’s vehicle where a Ruger 9mm firearm loaded with two rounds of live ammunition was discovered. Officers secured the firearm and ammunition as well as the male’s License to Carry.

The male was transported to a local hospital by Boston EMS for further evaluation.
