BPD Officers Place Suspect in Custody After Recovering Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop in Downtown Boston

At about 8:58 PM on Friday August 9, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) made an onsite firearm arrest during a traffic stop in the area of 170 Tremont Street in Downtown Boston. The officers were on routine patrol when the stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation. While speaking to the operator, later identified as Christopher Rodriguez, 28, of Hyde Park, officers observed and recovered a loaded 9mm Springfield Armory XD9 Subcompact handgun from inside the vehicle. It was later determined that the firearm had been previously reported stolen in Georgia. The suspect was placed in custody on scene without incident and will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property.
