Early Morning Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to the Arrest of Suspect on Gun-Related Charges in Dorchester

Early Morning Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to the Arrest of Suspect on Gun-Related Charges in Dorchester: At about 1:45am, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on directed patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Stoughton Street when officers observed silver motor vehicle make an illegal turn at the intersection of Stoughton and Pleasant Streets. In light of the infraction, officers activated their emergency blue lights and sirens and were able to stop the car in the area of 70 Pleasant Street. Upon engaging the operator of the vehicle, officers immediately recognized him from previous encounters. While talking to the operator, officers noted that he appeared to be nervous and breathing at a rapid pace. When asked to provide his driver’s license, the operator stated he didn’t have it on him. When asked to produce the car’s registration, the operator stated that he didn’t know where it was because the car belonged to a friend. In light of the conflicting and confusing answers, officers asked the driver to exit the car. With the suspect now outside the car, officers conducted a pat frisk of the car’s interior. While frisking the vehicle, officers observed and confiscated a firearm (see above photo) found inside the vehicle’s center console. When asked if he had a license to carry the firearm, the suspect stated, “I don’t.”

Officers arrested Khamaree Price, 20, of Boston and charged him with the following: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Subsequent Offense of Firearm Conviction, Armed Career Criminal and Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The firearm was determined to be a black Hi-Point 45mm semi-automatic firearm.
