Officers Arrest Two Males Following Investigation into a Shooting in Jamaica Plain

 

Between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, officers were able to locate two males who were identified during an investigation into a shooting which took place at about 11:52 PM on Monday, August 12, 2019 in the area of 279 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.

Officers arrested Andre Raper, 26-years-old, of Jamaica Plain and Jerome Barrows, 22-years-old, of Roxbury. Raper was arrested at about 3:01 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the area of 934 Parker Street for an active straight warrant out of Roxbury District Court for Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building. Barrows was arrested at about 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the area of 277 Centre Street for an active straight warrant out of Roxbury District Court for charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Withholding Evidence from a Criminal Proceeding.

The facts and circumstances of the original incident are as follows: At about 11:52 PM on Monday, August 12, 2019, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 50 Lamartine Street in Jamaica Plain. On arrival, officers received information that two unknown black males were shooting across Centre Street. With this information, officers canvassed the area, eventually locating ballistic evidence in front of 279 Centre Street. Officers additionally located an adult male victim who suffered a non-life-threatening apparent graze wound. Officers searched the area for the suspects to no avail.
