UPDATE: One day after a Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Correction Officer was assaulted in the area of Atkinson Street, an arrest has been made in connection to the attack. Yesterday, at about 7:56am, on Thursday, August 1, 2019, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a call for an assault and battery in the area of 112 Southampton Street. On arrival, officers learned that the victim, an employee of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, had been transported from the scene to an area hospital where he would receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Officers later spoke to the victim who stated that he was driving along Atkinson Street when an unknown male yelled out to him. Consequently, the victim rolled down his window and, upon doing so, was assaulted by the unknown male who struck the victim in the face with a closed fist. When the victim exited his vehicle to confront the unknown suspect, he was surrounded by approximately five individuals who proceeded to assault him.
In the hours after the attack, BPD investigators were able to ascertain and establish the identity of one of the suspects seen attacking the victim. Earlier today, Friday, August 2, 2019, officers arrested Sean Stuart, 51, of Boston and charged him with Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Shod Foot).
