One Less Gun: At about 10:15 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 20 McGreevey Way in Roxbury. While on patrol in the area of 68 Albert Street, officers observed a group of individuals known to them from prior encounters. As officers were in the area, they took notice of one particular male who, upon seeing officers, began to quicken his pace as he retreated to the rear of the community center. At this time, as officers exited their cruiser, they observed the male to grab his waistband and immediately flee the area in a full sprint in an attempt to evade officers. The male continued away from officers with his arms pinned to his waist. The male ran through a courtyard on Prentiss Street towards Parker Street before he was apprehended on McGreevey Way. Officers located a Smith & Wesson DA .45 caliber revolver loaded with six rounds of live ammunition from the suspect’s pocket.

Officers arrested Takari Hobbs, 18-years-old, of Mattapan. Hobbs is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
