Officers Arrest One and Recover Firearm from Scooter in Jamaica Plain

One Less Gun: At about 9:02 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 138 Heath Street in Jamaica Plain. While enroute to the aforementioned location, officers received information from BPD Operations that a group of kids on scooters had assaulted his friend and that an older black male suspect had pointed a firearm at them before hiding it under the seat of his scooter. With this information, officers arrived on scene and observed a male matching the description of the suspect. Officers approached the male who was sitting on a scooter. The male was directed to step away from the scooter and turn it off. Officers opened the seat of the scooter and subsequently located a plastic bag containing multiple smaller plastic bags containing marijuana, a Glock 9mm Polymer 80 firearm and a magazine containing four rounds of live ammunition.

Officers arrested Jonathan Alleyne, 55-years-old, of Mattapan. Alleyne is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.
