One Less Gun: At about 5:35 PM on Friday, August 23, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Brookview Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of Callender Street and Blue Hill Avenue, officers observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a pedestrian in a cross walk. Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The operator refused to stop his vehicle. Officers eventually were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Blue Hill Ave and Brookview Street. As officers approached the vehicle, the operator was instructed to exit the vehicle, to which he refused. Officers removed the operator from the vehicle and placed him under arrest following a brief but violent struggle. While attempting to place the suspect in handcuffs, officers observed a firearm protruding from the suspect’s pocket. Officers secured the firearm which was later determined to be a Titan .25 caliber firearm loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition.
