At about 2:54 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 23 Bay State Road in Boston. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim stated he had entered the store at 782 Commonwealth Avenue when he was approached by an unknown black male, an unknown white female, and an unknown white male in a wheelchair. The victim stated while he was giving change to the white male in the wheelchair, the black male became verbally aggressive toward the victim before producing a small knife and stabbing the victim in the arm resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. Boston EMS responded to the scene to treat the victim's injuries.
Additional officers arrived on scene and began to canvass the area for the suspect. While searching the area, officers were notified that a Massachusetts State Trooper had observed the suspect in the area 141 Massachusetts Avenue. The suspect was positively identified and taken into custody. Officers recovered a knife from the suspect’s person.
Officers arrested Vincent Norwood, 44-years-old, of Roxbury. Norwood is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
