At about 5:39 PM on Thursday August 8, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested three individuals while recovering three loaded firearms after performing a traffic stop in the area of 27 Ellington Street in Dorchester. The officers were on directed patrol in the area in response to recent firearm related violence when they stopped a motor vehicle which had been previously reported stolen. As the officers approached to speak with the operator, later identified as Malik Knight, 21, of Dorchester, he attempted to exit the vehicle at which time, the officers immediately observed a firearm in plain view on the driver’s seat. The weapon was later determined to be a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P handgun. At this time, a violent struggle ensued as the officers attempted to gain control of the suspect. As this was occurring, several individuals who had been standing nearby came towards the officers in an attempt to interfere with their arrest. Two members of the group, later identified as Emoni Eason-Robinson, 21, of Dorchester and a 17-year-old male from Dorchester, were placed in custody by additional responding officers and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and Interfering with a Police Officer. Officers were eventually able to place the primary suspect in custody at which time they recovered a loaded Springfield XD handgun from inside a backpack that the suspect was wearing during the incident. A BPD K-9 Officer then performed a search and located a third firearm, later determined to be a loaded .25 caliber Lorcin handgun, from the general area where the two other suspects had been standing prior to interfering with the officers while in the pursuit of their duties.
The two adult suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment while the 17-year-old suspect will appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court. Malik Knight will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, 2 Counts, 2nd and Subsequent, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest.
