Officers Arrest One, Recover Loaded Firearm and Drugs in Dorchester


One Less Gun: At about 8:30 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 176 Fairmount Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of Morton Street and Fairmount Street, officers observed a motor vehicle consistently crossing over the double yellow lines. Officers activated their emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop for the infraction in the area of 176 Fairmount Street. Assisted by Massachusetts State Police, officers approached the vehicle and observed a large duffle bag on the backseat with several open compartments revealing several small packages containing marijuana. Eventually, the male operator was removed from the vehicle and officers recovered a High Point JHP .45 caliber firearm loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition as well as approximately thirty ounces of marijuana from inside of the duffle bag. 

Officers arrested Walter Murillo, 35-years-old, of Boston. Murillo is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.
