Quick Response Enables BPD Officers to Arrest B&E Suspect Trying to Flee the Scene: At about 11:17pm, on Sunday, September 16, 2019, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for a person breaking into a store front at 980 Dorchester Ave in Dorchester. According to the caller, a male suspect, wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants, was seen smashing the glass front door of the T-Mobile Store with a metal bat. On arrival, officers learned that the suspect was seen running down Dorchester Ave towards Sudan Street. A search of the immediate area enabled officers to locate a person matching the description of the suspect in the area of Auckland and Belfort Streets. Upon seeing the suspect, officers promptly noted that the suspect had a t-shirt wrapped around his right hand which appeared to have been bleeding. Further, while approaching the suspect, officers heard the sound of a metal object hitting the ground. A search of the area within close proximity to where the suspect was standing enabled officers to recover a metal bat found lying underneath a motor vehicle.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old male from Boston and charged him with the following:

  • Breaking & Entering a Building at Nighttime

  • Possession of a Burglarious Instrument (metal bat)

  • Willful and Malicious Destruction of Property
