The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Detective John J. Mulligan 26 Years Ago Today

BPD Remembers: On this day 26 years ago, Detective John James Mulligan was shot and killed in the line of duty in Roslindale. Detective Mulligan was 52 years old at the time of his death and had been with the BPD since 1966. He was survived by his two sons.

Detective Mulligan is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Brighton, MA. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial, panel 30, west line 19, as well as the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Police Memorial located at the State House.

A Hero Sign has been placed in his honor on American Legion Highway in Roslindale.
