Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Two Recover Loaded Firearms During Investigation in Jamaica Plain

At about 1:27 AM on Monday September 9, 2019, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) made an onsite firearm arrest while on directed patrol in the area of 944 Heath Street in Jamaica Plain. While conducting a check of the hallways and laundry room of the Bromley Heath Housing Development, officers located Damari Scarlett-Dixon, 18, of Weymouth, and were aware that he was trespassing on the property. During their investigation, the officers performed a pat frisk which led to the recovery of a loaded .45 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun from the right side of the suspects waistband. The suspect was successfully placed in custody after a brief struggle.

While on scene, officers located and recovered a discarded .380 caliber Taurus Spectrum handgun from atop a dryer in the laundry room which has since been turned into the BPD Firearms Analysis Unit for processing.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Trespassing.
