BPD Fugitive Unit Arrests Wanted Suspect After Ten-Month-Long, Multi-State Investigation

 

Earlier today, on Tuesday October 1, 2019, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, in a coordinated effort with the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police and the Brockton Police Department, located and arrested Hermano Joseph, 28, of Randolph, in the area of 17 Hamilton Street in Brockton, MA. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants sought out of Suffolk Superior Court on charges of Indecent Assault and Battery (3 Counts), Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (3 Counts) and Threats stemming from an incident in 2013 as well as additional warrants for Armed Carjacking and Armed Robbery.

The arrest came as a result of collaborative investigation that began in December of 2018 when the suspect fled the state after being convicted in Suffolk Superior Court. Over the course of the past 10 months, members of the BPD Fugitive Unit tracked the suspect to locations in several states  before finally placing him in custody today in Brockton.

The suspect is expected to face arraignment in Brockton District Court.

Investigation Update: Arrest Made in Connection to Homicide Investigation in the area of 36 West Eagle Street in East Boston

Investigation Update: At about 7:55 PM on Friday September 20, 2019, officers assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit and Fugitive Apprehension Unit, in coordination with members of the Chelsea Police Department, arrested Raul Gutierrez-Rosales, 22, of Chelsea, at his residence in Chelsea. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on a straight warrant issued out of East Boston District Court for Murder. He is scheduled for arraignment on Monday September 23, 2019.

The original facts and circumstances of the incident are as follows: At about 11:24 PM, on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, officers assigned to District A-7 (East Boston), responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 36 West Eagle Street in East Boston. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim was later identified as Carlos Ramos, 22, of East Boston.

UPDATE: BPD Homicide Investigators Arrest One in Connection to the Fatal Shooting of 74-Year-Old Woman in the area of 10 Mattapan Street in Mattapan

UPDATE: Four months after the fatal shooting of a 74-year-old woman in Mattapan, an arrest has been made in connection to the incident. Earlier today, Friday, August 9, 2019, members of the BPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit located and arrested Dane Henry, 23, of Roxbury. Henry, who is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday, August 12, 2019, is charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Manslaughter.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows:

At about 4:57pm, on Saturday, April 6, 2019, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 10 Mattapan Street in Mattapan. On arrival, officers located an elderly female victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. That victim has since been identified as Eleanor Maloney, 74, of Mattapan.

Suspect Arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Following Shooting on Penhallow Street in Dorchester

 

SIGNIFICANT ARREST: At about 10:24 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested Ernest Watkins, 21-years-old, of Dorchester in the area of Melville Avenue and Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. Watkins is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  

The facts of the initial incident are as follows: At about 5:15 PM on Monday, June 24, 2019, officers responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 506 Geneva Avenue (Town Field) in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed two black male suspects fleeing from the scene. Officers continued their pursuit of the suspects, one of whom fled up Mather Street while the other male, suspect #1, who was observed carrying a firearm, fled to the area of 10 Penhallow Street in Dorchester. Suspect #1 fired at the officers who returned fire. Suspect #1 was fatally wounded while the second suspect, who was later identified as Ernest Watkins, made good on his escape from officers. Officers continued to search the area for Watkins to no avail.

Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested in Homicide in the area of 107 Devon Street

UPDATE: At about 10:05 AM on Monday, June 24, 2019, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit made an onsite warrant arrest in the area of 21 Garden Lane in Waltham. Officers arrested Lalance Smith, 29-years-old of Quincy, for an active warrant out of Dorchester Court for charges of Murder, Armed Robbery, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

The facts and circumstances of the initial incident are as follows: At about 3:32 AM on Friday, June 14, 2019, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 107 Devon Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has since been identified as Arnold Woodrum, 59, of Dorchester.

 

Suspect Wanted for Warrant out of New Hampshire on Charges of Arson and Attempted Murder Arrested in Boston

 

At about 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, members of the Fugitive Unit made an onsite arrest in the area of 55 Fruit Street in Boston. Officers arrested Gerald Gutekunst, 73-years-old, of Hudson, New Hampshire who was wanted out of Hudson, NH for an active Hillsborough County warrant for charges of Arson of an Occupied Structure and Attempted Murder. Gutekunst was taken into custody and will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on a Fugitive from Justice charge before being extradited to New Hampshire. 

 

Two Males Wanted on Felony Warrants, Including One for Murder in Minneapolis, Arrested in South Boston

 

At about 11:05 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2019, detectives assigned to the Fugitive Unit received information that a suspect wanted for murder in Minneapolis, Minnesota was possibly in South Boston driving a trucking rig. Detectives, having also obtained a license plate for the rig, began patrolling the area with assistance from the US Marshals and the DEA. At about 12:25 PM officers observed the truck bearing the registration provided traveling in the area of Cypher Street and West Service Road in South Boston. Officers approached the vehicle and removed the occupants. The operator was identified and released from the scene, while both passengers were taken into custody for felony warrants out of Minnesota. 

Officers arrested Farhan Ibrahim, 20-years-old, of Minneapolis and Ahmed Rashed Ahmed, 26-years-old, of Boston. Both are expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on Fugitive from Justice charges. Ibrahim was wanted on an active warrant out of Minneapolis for Murder. Ahmed was wanted on an active warrant out of Minneapolis for Felony Assault 2nd Degree Dangerous Weapon with Substantial Bodily Injury. 

 

Three Suspects Arrested in April 20th Double Stabbing in Downtown Boston

 

At about 2:28AM, on Saturday, April 20, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 1 Summer Street Boston. 

Upon arrival, officers observed one adult male victim suffering from a stab wound to the upper leg.  Officers located a second adult male victim who was suffering from a stab wound to the neck.  Both victims were taken to local area hospitals with life threatening injuries.  

UPDATE: At about 10:40 AM, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, after an ongoing investigation, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown), while in the area of 40 Boylston Street arrested Miguel Esteves-Roman, 42, of Boston, and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder, Mayhem, and Assault and Battery (injuries).

At about 5:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, officers assigned to the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, while in the area of 5 Cleaves Street arrested Louis Williams, 36, of Roxbury, on a straight warrant issued out of Boston Municipal Court and charged him with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery (injuries).  Also arrested on a straight warrant out of Boston Municipal Court was Charion Bradley, 27, of Roxbury. She was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, and Mayhem. 

All three suspects will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court

Officers Arrest One for Aggravated Assault and Battery, Armed Robbery in South Boston

 

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 7:00 AM on Friday, February 8, 2019, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit made a warrant arrest in the area of 266 East 9th Street in South Boston. Officers arrested Adelson Lovensky, 21-years-old, of Boston, on an outstanding warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for charges of Aggravated Assault and Battery and Armed Robbery. 

The facts of the original incident are as follows: At about 10:44 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2019, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 125 Tremont Street in Boston. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who was suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A description of the suspect was broadcast, but an initial search of the area yielded no results. Through an intensive investigation, officers were able to identify the male suspect and sought an arrest warrant.

 

UPDATE: Suspect Wanted in Connection to New Year’s Eve Armed Robbery in the Public Gardens Arrested in Lynn

UPDATE: At about 3:20 PM on Thursday, January, 10, 2019, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit conducted a warrant arrest in the area of 580 Essex Street in Lynn. Officers arrested Joshua Enos, 21-years-old, of Lynn. Enos was wanted on a warrant out of Boston Municipal Court for charges of Armed Robbery, Armed Kidnapping with Serious Bodily Injury and Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon. 

The facts of the original incident are as follows: At about 10:00 PM on Monday, December 31, 2018, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery. On arrival, officers spoke to the victims who stated they were walking through the Public Gardens when they were approached by three unknown males. The males demanded the victims' money before stabbing one of the victims. The victims eventually handed over their property to the suspects. At this time, the suspects grabbed the male who had been stabbed and forced him to withdraw an undisclosed amount of US Currency from an ATM in the area. The suspects fled the area on foot. The victim was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening stab wound.

 

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Boston Police Fugitive Unit Arrest Suspect Wanted on Several Outstanding Warrants for Breaking and Entering

Earlier today, at about 12:15 PM on Monday December 31, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested Albert Morrissette, 48, of Dorchester as part of an ongoing investigation in the area of 29 Homestead Street in Dorchester. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on several outstanding warrants sought out of Boston area courts stemming from several recent breaking and entering incidents. The suspect will face arraignment in Dorchester District Court.

Fugitive Unit Arrests Suspect Wanted for Murder in the area of 50 Evelyn Street in Stoughton 

UPDATE: As part of the May 15, 2018 homicide investigation in the area of 50 Evelyn Street in Mattapan, officers arrested Jocelyn Vasquez, 32-years-old of Dorchester for the murder of 33-year-old Garfield Thomas. With the assistance of Stoughton Police, officers were able to locate the suspect in the area of 147 Seaver Street in Stoughton. Vasquez is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a straight warrant for Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. 

The original facts of the investigation are as follows: At about 10:39 AM on Tuesday May 15, 2018, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 50 Evelyn Street in Mattapan. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim, who has since been identified as 33-year-old Garfield Thomas of Mattapan, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

 



Fugitive Unit Arrests Juvenile on Multiple Warrants for Charges Including Armed Assault to Rob in Jamaica Plain

 

At about 10:15 AM on Wednesday. December 5, 2018, members of the Fugitive Unit made an on-site arrest of a 16-year-old male juvenile in the area of 3347 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain. As part of an ongoing investigation, officers placed the juvenile in custody for several outstanding warrants on charges of Armed Assault to Rob, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Unarmed Robbery, and Assault and Battery. 

 

Juvenile Suspect Wanted in Connection to Threatening Phone Calls Received at Two Boston Area Bars in Custody in New Hampshire

At about 9:30 PM, on Friday, November 23, 2018, officers from the Seabrook New Hampshire Police Department located and arrested a 16-year-old male from Hampton, NH, who was wanted in connection to an investigation surrounding threatening phone calls which had been received at two Boston area bars. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants sought out of Suffolk County Juvenile Court for Threats with Serious Public Alarm and Civil Rights Violations in connection to that investigation as well as additional warrants stemming from other charges from outside jurisdictions.

The suspect remains held at this time as a Fugitive from Justice. The Boston Police Fugitive Unit has responded and is collaborating with the Seabrook Police Department to arrange for the suspect’s return to the area for arraignment.

Investigation Update: Wanted Suspect Located and Arrested in New Jersey

 

Investigation Update: Edwin Fantauzzi, 30, of Lawrence, who was wanted on numerous charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday November 3, 2018, in the area of 10 Hammond Street in Lower Roxbury, has been located and arrested. Members of the BPD Fugitive Unit received information indicating that the suspect may be in the area of Bayonne, New Jersey. Investigators then coordinated with officers from the Bayonne Police Department who were able to locate the suspect and place him in custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was utilizing the alias of Roberto Santiago. The suspect is currently being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility as a Fugitive from Justice while awaiting extradition based on the Roxbury District Court warrant charging him with Assault with Intent to Rape a Child Under 16, Aggravating Kidnapping, Enticement of a Child and Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14.

Keeping Boston Safe: Fugitive Unit Arrests Male Wanted in Connection to Double Stabbing in Roxbury

 

SIGNIFICANT ARREST: At about 9:50 AM on Saturday, November 3, 2018, members of the Fugitive Unit assisted by Pembroke Police, conducted a warrant arrest in the area of 32 Oak Street in Pembroke. Officers arrested Shawn Padilla, 39-years-old, of Roxbury for a warrant out of Roxbury District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 7:25 PM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 70 Cedar Street in Roxbury. Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim suffering from apparent life-threatening stab wounds.  Officers further observed an additional male victim suffering from apparent non-life-threatening stab wounds. Both male victims were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive their injuries.

 

UPDATE: Officers Arrest Two Males Wanted in Connection to Homicide in the area of 76 Homestead Street in Roxbury

On Friday, October 12, 2018, members of the Fugitive Unit located and apprehended two males wanted in connection to a homicide which occurred on July 7, 2018 in the area of 76 Homestead Street in Roxbury. Officers arrested Demetrius Bennett, 27-years-old, of Dorchester and Adnan Tahlil, 24-years-old, of Roxbury, for outstanding warrants.

Bennett is charged with Murder and Tahlil is charged with Manslaughter. Both males are expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: BPD Fugitive Unit Arrest Two Suspects Wanted in Connection to Two Separate Shots Fired Incidents in Less Than Five and Half Hours

INCIDENT #1: At about 8:10 AM on Wednesday October 3, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested Preston Tyler, 42, of Roxbury, in the area of 15 Whittier Street in Roxbury. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on a Straight Warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. The warrant was sought in connection to an incident that occurred at about 5:22 PM on Friday September 21, 2018, during which a shot was fired inside an apartment located at 15 Codman Park in Roxbury causing ballistic damage. The suspect is scheduled for arraignment later today in Roxbury District Court.

INCIDENT #2: At about 1:30 PM on Wednesday October 3, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested Dashawn Jones, 24, of Roxbury, in the area of 658 Washington Street in Dorchester. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted in connection to an incident that occurred at about 7:15 PM on Tuesday August 21, 2018, during which several shots were fired in the area of 90 Armory Street in Roxbury resulting in two parked motor vehicles sustaining ballistic damage. The suspect was taken into custody by virtue of a Straight Warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for numerous charges including Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. The suspect will face arraignment in Roxbury District Court.

 

UPDATE: BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Non-Fatal Shooting of 15-Year-Old Girl in Mattapan

Earlier this morning, at about 10:50 AM on Thursday September 27, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located and arrested John Jackson, 24, of Mattapan, who was wanted in connection to a non-fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Mattapan. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to wit: gun), Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 11:34 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 998 Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan. During the incident, the suspect was seen entering the store and requesting the bathroom key. Witnesses heard a noise best described as a "bang" in the bathroom and saw the 15-year-old female victim on the floor. The suspect was observed leaving the store slowly and then running down Blue Hill Avenue towards Callender Street. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 

BPD Fugitive Unit Tracks Down Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder in Florida  

 

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY: At about 7:15 AM on Friday, September 21, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit conducted a warrant arrest in the area of 4 Esmond Street in Dorchester which resulted in the arrest of Ricago Cesar AKA Riccardo Cesar, 37-years-old, of Dorchester. Cesar has been wanted since October of 2017 following a stabbing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

Cesar has multiple active warrants for charges including Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Attempted Murder. Cesar will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court with an additional charge of Fugitive from Justice.
