UPDATE: BPD Officers Arrest Two More Suspects in Death Investigation in the Area of 6 Kenwood Street

Today, Friday, March 9, 2018, members of the Fugitive Unit arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male from Lynn in relation to the shooting death of Chad O’Connor, 17, of Boston that occurred on January 14, 2018 in the area of 6 Kenwood Street.

After an extensive investigation, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested the juvenile in the area of Beyer Place in Lynn, MA by virtue of a warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court. The juvenile will be charged with Murder and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. This is the third suspect arrested in conjunction with the investigation into O’Connor’s death. Only hours after today's arrest, officers arrested the fourth suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester, for his involvement in the murder of Chad O'Connor.

Only one month earlier on Friday, February 9, 2018, detectives assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit along with members of the BPD's Fugitive Apprehension Unit had arrested Rishaard Sheppard, 18, of Dorchester and Branden Singleton, 18, of Dorchester and charged both for their roles in O’Connor’s murder. 

Said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, "The officers assigned to this case have worked tirelessly over the past two months to arrest all individuals responsible for the death of this young victim. I hope these arrests send a message to those who might think they can get away with these senseless violent acts--my detectives will investigate every lead until they have found justice for the victims of homicide. More importantly, it should send the message that my officers are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the communities and neighborhoods of Boston."

At about 5:30 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2018, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of Kenwood Street and Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound or wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

UPDATE: BPD Homicide Investigators Arrest 2 Suspects Wanted in Connection to Death Investigation in area of Kenwood and Washington Streets in Dorchester

 

Less than four weeks after the shooting death of 17-year-old Chad O'Connor, two individuals wanted in connection to his shooting death are in police custody. Earlier today, Friday, February 9, 2018, detectives assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit along with members of the BPD's Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Rishaard Sheppard, 18, of Dorchester and Branden Singleton, 18, of Dorchester and charged both with Murder. Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday, February 12, 2018.

Said Commissioner William Evans, "I want to acknowledge and commend my officers for the hard work and dedication to justice that preceded the arrest of the two suspects wanted in connection to this crime. Clearly, an arrest like this not only makes our city safer but should also send a loud, clear message that gun violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our city. To the family and friends of Chad O'Connor, it is my sincere hope that the news of today's arrests will provide for them some small measure of comfort and closure."

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound or wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has since been identified as Chad O'Connor, 17 of Boston.
