Officers Arrest Man in Possession of a Loaded Rifle in Dorchester

At about 7:59 PM, on Monday, October 14, 2019, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester), responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 381 Centre Street in Dorchester.

Officers were advised by the BPD dispatcher that 4 males were arguing and that one of those males was holding what appeared to be a rifle in his hand.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect coming out of a driveway and due to the nature of the call, officers placed the male, later identified as Paul Brown, 33, of Dorchester, into handcuffs and searched him for any weapons that may have been present.

Officers were able to locate a rifle leaning against a chain link fence in the driveway. The Mossberg International 71ST, .22 caliber long rifle had a magazine containing 23 rounds of ammunition.

Mr. Brown was charged with the following: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun on a Public Way. Brown is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm after a Traffic Stop and Arrest Two Suspects

At about 3:14 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 23 Fessenden Street, Mattapan.

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle whose registration was revoked.  As officers exited their police cruiser, the driver of the motor, later identified as, Jelani Tinnis-Edwards, 21, of Mattapan, also exited his motor vehicle in an attempt to flee on foot. Officers were able to quickly detain Tinnis-Edwards. Due to the fact that the motor vehicle was being towed for a revoked registration, the passenger, later identified as, Brajon Brown, 20, of Mattapan, was also removed from the motor vehicle.

It was revealed through a registry of motor vehicle inquiry, that Tinnis-Edwards’ driver’s license was suspended and he was placed under arrest.

Officers then located a small fanny pack in the backseat of the vehicle that contained a loaded Cobra .380 with one round in the chamber, a total of 8 rounds of ammunition.

Brown was charged with the following; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Tinnis-Edwards was charged with the following: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Operating after Revocation/Suspension. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Officers Arrest One Suspect and Recover a Loaded Firearm After a Traffic Stop in West Roxbury

 

ONE LESS GUN: At about 6:40PM, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Washington Street and Lagrange Street in West Roxbury.  Officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed fail to stop for a pedestrian in a cross walk while continuing through a red light.

As officers approached the motor vehicle, they observed the operator, later identified as Jonathon Leon, 28, of Boston, toss an object toward the area of the passenger floor.

Officers walked around to the passenger side where they observed a wallet and an object believed to be a firearm. Officers recovered a loaded Glock 43 9mm firearm containing 7 rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

Jonathon Lean was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court. 

Keeping Boston Safe: Officers Arrest Three Suspects and Recover Two Loaded Firearms and Drugs

At about 10:06 PM, on Sunday, September 22, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest of Jahlil Douglas, 21, of Canton, MA., and Ajalil Douglas, 21, of Dorchester. Officers also made an onsite arrest of Lawrence Alexander, 21, of Stoughton, MA., on drug charges.  Officers responded to a radio call for a disturbance in the area of 80 Woodruff Way in Dorchester, for loud music and people smoking marijuana from their vehicles.

Upon arrival, officers observed the two motor vehicles in question and spoke with all parties involved. In plain sight, officers observed a large white plastic bag protruding from a back pack that was located next to the passenger, Lawrence Alexander.  Mr. Alexander removed the plastic bag from the back pack and officers observed an undetermined amount of a green leafy substance and also observed a digital scale. Officers removed the parties from the motor vehicle and recovered an additional digital scale. Officers also observed the floor mat on the driver’s side that appeared to be concealing a bulky item. Officers lifted the floor mat to see what was underneath and recovered a black firearm. A second firearm was recovered from motor vehicle #2.

Officers recovered two firearms from the scene: a loaded Taurus G2C 9mm firearm with 1 round in the chamber and 11 rounds in the magazine and a second loaded Taurus G2C 9mm firearm with 1 round in the chamber and 10 rounds in the magazine. Both firearms were inserted with a 12-round magazine. 

Ajalil Douglas and Jahlil Douglas were both charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Lawrence Alexander will be charged with: Possession with intent to distribute Class D, Drugs (Marijuana).  All three suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Officers in South Boston Arrest One Suspect After Recovering a Firearm

At about 5:09 PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston), responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 220 Dorchester Avenue in South Boston.

Upon arrival, officers observed two motor vehicles parked in the middle of Dorchester Avenue with their doors open. The motor vehicles appeared to have been in an accident and the suspect, later identified as Danh Nguyen, 29, of Dorchester, was standing next to one of the motor vehicles. Due to the nature of the call, officers immediately conducted a pat-frisked and recovered an unloaded 9mm Sig Sauer P320 Pistol inside of a fanny pack, along with two fully loaded ten round magazines.

After further investigation it was revealed that after the motor vehicle accident and before police arrival, Mr. Nguyen was observed exiting his motor vehicle with the Sig Sauer Pistol in his hand as he approached the driver's side window of the victim’s motor vehicle.

Danh Nguyen was arrested and charged with; Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon to wit Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Nguyen will be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
