Earlier today, on Saturday May, 19, 2018. members of the BPD Homicide Unit and BPD Fugitive Unit located and arrested two suspects wanted in connection to the murder of Michael Ross.
Dawon Wright, 22, of Dorchester, and Dario Baxter, 21, of Lynn, are now in police custody and scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court on Monday May 21, 2018. Wright will be charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Baxter will be charged with Murder and Accessory After the Fact.
The original facts and circumstances surrounding this investigation are as follows:
At about 9:11 AM on Friday, March 30, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 120 Quincy Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim, later identified as Michael Ross, 34, of Dorchester, in the area of 112 Wayland Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, suffering from life threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Said Commissioner William Evans, “I want to praise the unyielding effort and dedication of my investigators and officers who worked tirelessly to ensure that these two violent criminals will now be brought to justice. I specifically want to commend my Homicide Detectives for their work on this case which led to these suspects being identified and charged. I would also like to commend my officers in the Fugitive Unit for successfully locating and arresting both suspects within 24 hours of their warrants being issued. I can only hope that news of these arrests can bring some small level of comfort to the family, friends and loved ones of Michael Ross.”
